The Toronto Blue Jays have shown interest in free-agent utilityman Marwin Gonzalez, but it’s unclear if the club is simply doing its due diligence or more as it continues to look at bolstering its pitching after making big splashes to improve its lineup earlier in the off-season, per Sportsnet’s Shi Davidi.
#BlueJays have shown interest in versatile switch hitter Marwin Gonzalez, per source. They’ve liked him in the past and he’s the type of universal adapter defender they often seek. Unclear if it’s just due diligence or more, amid club’s ongoing pursuit of pitching.

Davidi reports the Blue Jays have liked the 31-year-old in the past and Gonzalez is in the mold of the type of versatile defenders they typically seek.
Gonzalez collected five home runs, 22 RBI and slashed .211/.286/.320 in 53 games with the Twins last season, his second in Minnesota.
Prior to that, Gonzalez spent seven campaigns with the Houston Astros, his best year coming with the 2017 title team when he recorded 23 home runs and 90 RBI with a .303/.377/.530 line.
Also on that 2017 World Series team was star outfielder George Springer, who the Blue Jays signed to a six-year, $150-million deal on Jan. 23.
